Beginner Quilting with Ellen Butler


Join Ellen Butler for a a Beginners Basic Quilt Classes!  

Monday, June 26th & Wednesday, June 28th

This is a two-day class on June 26th and June 28th from 9 am - 3 pm.  
Attendees will learn the basics of cutting fabric for quilt blocks, piecing blocks, and sewing those blocks together, along with many quilting techniques! Attendees will make 9 sampler blocks (Log Cabin, Sawtooth Star, Square in a Square, Shoo Fly, 9-Patch, Jacob's ladder, Bow Tie, The Spool, Sunshine and Shadows, Split Rail Fence, Pinwheel and Broken Dishes).

(We will break for lunch - attendees are free to bring a lunch and enjoy it in the classroom or outside in the park.  We also have several restaurants within walking distance.)

Class Fee: $35 per day (so a total of $70 plus tax)

Kits (including the pattern) will be available for purchase.

Bring your own sewing machine - please make sure it is in good working order and that you know how to operate it - thread it, wind a bobbin, pick a stitch, etc.

Please bring your basic sewing supplies :) and IF you own the following items please bring them to class: 
  1. Rotary Cutting Mat at least 24"
  2. Rotary Cutter (with good sharp blades)
  3. 12½" square ruler
  4. 24" ruler (6½ x 24" or 8½" x 24") 
  5. Best Press
  6. Thread - COTTON neutral color
  7. Small scissors or thread snips
  8. Pressing Mat
  9. Mini Iron
  10. Glass head silk pins (these won't melt when you iron)
  11. Seam Ripper (everyone makes mistakes sometime!)
  12. Machine (in good working order!) with power cord and foot pedal PLUS accessories - especially your ¼" Foot!
  13. Pen or pencil to take notes
